Date Night(s)

Life has been a little hectic and more than a little stressful lately. Despite all that, we’ve been trying to carve out a little time to forget about the world and just have a good time. Date nights have included a few random road trips, bowling for a cause, professional bull riding, winning big at the casino, a magic show, and even a cat show.

32nd Anniversary of The Incident of 1986

For this year’s festivities, my adventure was a bit unique – I wasn’t out skydiving or seeking my usual hit of adrenaline. I spent the weekend immersed in a new experience of documenting the love and life of a beautiful couple.

Thanks so much to all my family and friends who reminded me in a multitude of ways how lucky I am to have survived another trip around the sun. Alex & Mallory

I was somewhere over the state line in New Mexico driving the 26 ft U-haul from Kalispell to Albuquerque when I got an interesting message from my friend Mallory: Not sure when you’re going to be down this way but I have this wedding thing coming up and was wondering if you would be interested in taking some photos for us?

Taking photos? Of course, I was interested. What I later learned was that ‘this wedding thing’ was an entire weekend in the Rocky Mountains with the most amazing festivities centered around the love of two unique and truly amazing people.

I just wanted to share a few highlights from the weekend. The entire album is theirs to share (or not).

May you always remember the love that brought you to share your name. Xoxo.

On the Road Again

My plane landed back in Ohio three days early so I took the extra time to spend with family before we all packed up and headed to Washington, DC for a little family trip built around Brian’s graduation. It was a blitz trip in DC with my entire family before Brian & I packed up one last time and hit the road one final time.

Moving (Wo)Man

I drug myself out of the woods late Sunday morning to head into town to pick up the 26 ft U-haul truck waiting for me in Evergreen. Thanks to the help of my in-laws and their amazing friend John, I was able to have the entire storage unit cleared out in around an hour and the excess stuff we’d had stored around the Bennett house pack up in another.IMG_2566
I set out early Monday morning. The scenery -as always- was beautiful and the drive was relaxing despite the heavy construction and the giant vehicle I was soloing. My first stop was Missoula for a quick ice cream stop with two of my favorite people. IMG_2569IMG_2591IMG_2625IMG_2575IMG_2577IMG_2580IMG_2581

After Missoula, I spent the next 3 days taking my time traveling down to Albuquerque. With only a few hiccups along the way, I was able to take my time moving our household goods from Montana to New Mexico. One of the hiccups involved our new house not being ready for us to move into yet, so I hired a few movers for a couple of hours to help get everything out of the truck and into a storage unit. I’m about to hop an earlier flight back to Ohio for a few extra days with family before picking up Brian and driving back across the country to start the next chapter.DSC_9211DSC_9212DSC_9214DSC_9215DSC_9218DSC_9231IMG_2582IMG_2621IMG_2624IMG_2632IMG_2633IMG_2636IMG_2646

Annual Camping Trip

My mother-in-law has been telling me about the annual family camping trip since before Brian & I got married. Finding myself not working and back in the lower 48, I planned a trip out to Montana to spend the 4th of July with my husbands family. It was a blitz trip in the woods before packing up the u-Haul and relocating our household goods to our future home in New Mexico; that’s for another post…Montana - 1Montana - 2Montana - 4Montana - 6Montana - 18Montana - 17Montana - 16Montana - 15Montana - 3Montana - 14Montana - 13Montana - 12Montana - 11Montana - 10Montana - 9Montana - 8Montana - 19Montana - 20Montana - 21Montana - 22Montana - 7Montana - 23Montana - 24Montana - 25Montana - 26Montana - 27Montana - 28Montana - 29Montana - 30Montana - 42Montana - 54Montana - 53Montana - 41Montana - 40Montana - 52Montana - 51Montana - 39Montana - 38Montana - 50Montana - 49Montana - 37Montana - 36Montana - 48Montana - 47Montana - 35Montana - 34Montana - 46Montana - 45Montana - 33Montana - 32Montana - 44Montana - 43Montana - 31IMG_2556

My First Sushi

Perhaps one of my proudest accomplishments during my travels was getting each of my nieces and nephews to open their minds (and mouths) and give sushi a try. I was able to video my nephews reactions to their first attempts at one of my addictions (yes, I also introduced them to my other addition – macaroons – but with greater success).
