Island in the Sun

My friend Becky visited us from the Missoula area for a day of sightseeing in Glacier and around Kalispell with Rost and me. The weather was absolutely perfect for our adventure. Rost adores his “Aunt Becky,” and I cherish both her and the special bond they share.

The Birds & the Bees (& a Lizard too)

This is the season of the Rost. His needs usually outweigh mine & that’s just the season I’m in right now. The older Rost gets, the more of my own hobbies & interests I try to incorporate back into my life. I’ve been trying to get my camera out as much as possible lately. It brings so much joy to find time to get out & shoot again. I may be rusty, but someday, my life will be in a different season & there will be more time for my Nikon. For now, I hope you enjoy some of my recent work.

Hungry Horse Resevoir

Getting my Nikon out is a treat these days. Life as a mom has me prioritizing things differently – and that’s okay. So when a fellow mom-friend wanted to take a drive up to the Spotted Bear Ranger Station, without babes in tow, I knew it was going to be a chance to knock the dust off my camera and spend the day behind the lens. I hope you enjoy my captures for the day which included a lot of flowers and one random sandhill crane.

Until we meet again my dear, sweet Nikon. Xoxo.

BIKING THE SUN (PART 3)

My friend Bre and I took a third trip to bike the Going to the Sun Road. Another attempt that had me turned around before reaching the end point yet again. My first trip out was rained out (something I now need to take into account when adventuring with Rost), the second trip a grizzly bear decided the road was (rightfully) his (or hers). On this trip, a flat tire on Bre’s bike meant she had to run roughly 3 miles next to her bike back to the trailhead while I took our boys back in my double bike trailer – which I luckily decided to use on this trip instead of the single bikes seat Rost prefers.

Biking the Sun

Living only thirty minutes outside of Glacier National Park definitely has its benefits. One of those is quick and easy access to the Going to the Sun road.

Each year the road opens first to hikers and bikers. I’ve had the chance to bike the road during this time once before when I lived in Missoula. This particular trip biking the road was rained out but I plan on taking full advantage of the close proximity for years to come.
