This particular area holds a special place in my heart as it was involved in numerous events in my life like my first snowshoeing trip, hot springs, many hikes, camping, and most importantly, the trip that first brought me to Missoula when I was 10.
Today I was set to add another important event to my life, my first trip backcountry skiing. After resuscitating my feelings for skiing this past weekend, it was believed to be a good idea that I jump head first into the powder of the Rocky Mountains (Something I ended up taking very literal on a few of my tumbles, including a double eject. Go me.) by going backcountry skiing.
This sort of skiing involves hard work “hiking” or skinning to the top of a mountain before flying down the mountainside on the same skiis you used to get to the top. It requires pushing your body to it’s limits, but the payoff is remarkable as the views are breathtaking and the adrenaline addicting.
Perhaps once Mi Baja is fully paid off, it’s time to start looking into acquiring my own gear. I think I could enjoy this, but I’m def going to need to go a few more times this season to be sure. Right? 😀
